Hooking Up

March 27, 2018

In class, we discussed a study that examined a study of men and women in college. The study examined how many college students said yes to “would you go out with me tonight”, “w you come over to my apartment tonight”, and “would you go to bed with me tonight”. As expected, very little to none women said yes to the second and third statement. If a random stranger asked me those two questions, I would immediately say no to them. I find that weird, creepy, and that’s just not the type of person that I am.

I guess you could say that I have a double standard when it comes to hooking up (aka having sex with someone). I have always been the type of person that planned on waiting until marriage. That was what my religion always stressed, and that’s just what I thought my future would be like. As mentioned in a previous post though, I decided to hook up with one of my guy friends my freshman year. We both decided to hook up in order to get that stage of “losing our virginity” out of the way. Even though I had sex with someone who I was not in a relationship with, I believe you should not just sleep around with random strangers. I find that to be a little disturbing having all these different sex partners. I’m fine with people having sex before marriage, but I do believe that you should be in some kind of relationship with the other person, or at least plan on it. Sex should not be something that you regret in the morning. Therefore, I’m not a fan of those that participate in multiple one night stands often. Sex should be meaningful and special, instead of just wanting to satisfy desirable sexual feelings.
